In 1931, it was renamed the Guangxi Provincial Second Library, then in 1958 became the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region Second Library. In 1980, it adopted its current name, and a new library building was completed and opened in July 1987. In May 2018, it was designated as a National First-Class Library.
As of December 2018, the Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region had a total building area of 54,000 square meters, featuring 17 lending rooms, approximately 2,000 reading seats, 16 institutional departments, and 179 staff members. Its collection included over 4.21 million items and nearly 212.4 TB of digital resources.
